This painting began as an exploration of gesture and attitude. I asked myself: is it possible to express a complex mindset through a single, seated figure? And if so, how?

I decided to accept the challenge—to tell a story with just one person. The woman we see here sits alone in a bar. The palette is muted, dominated by greenish-greys, and the paint is applied with thick, deliberate strokes of the palette knife, adding texture and weight to the atmosphere.

Her pose carries the heart of the painting. She is unapologetic, confident, fully grounded in the space she occupies. I wanted her to radiate presence—bold, maybe even defiant—without needing to explain herself. Yes, the concept plays with a familiar cliché, but it’s one I enjoyed engaging with. Drafting and executing this figure was a process I embraced fully, both in its challenge and its simplicity.

The title came naturally. I didn’t want metaphor or hidden meaning. Just a statement. This woman is there—fully present, fully herself. And that, to me, was quite enough.
